Splitsville: The Scare In Their Own Words

By • Jul 26th, 2010 • Category: Features

Is there anything more cliched than the rock and roll break-up? Secret meetings in dark alleys. The guitarist that suddenly pops up on other people’s records. The singer who doesn’t return their calls. You either see it coming a mile away, or it creeps up on you like old age. It happens to the best and it happens to the worst, and eventually it will happen to them all. Piss and moan about it all you like, but what’s done is done. The latest induction to the rock and roll hall of “fuck this shit for a laugh” are Webcuts’ favourite punk sons, The Scare.

The Scare To Scare No More

By • Jun 15th, 2010 • Category: News

For a band who were always going to burn out before they faded away, Australian punk infidels The Scare are sadly/happily/stupidly (delete as appropriate) calling it a day. “It was a fun ride, it was a wild ride, at times it was a shit ride, at times you wanted it to never end type of ride. But alas all good things must come to an end, and now it’s our turn.” Kiss Reid 2010.

No Money, No Family – On Tour With The Scare

By • Oct 15th, 2009 • Category: Features

A first (and probably last) for Webcuts as we jump in the back of a tour van and hit the road with ex-Brisbane trouble makers, now Sydney’s problem, The Scare, as they attempt to corrupt the people of Melbourne with their new ‘voodoo, and nothing, not even the death of Michael Jackson, was going to get in their way.

If you’ve been with The Scare lately, you’ll be lucky if it’s only voodoo you’re oozing, otherwise you better see a doctor.

The Scare – Could Be Bad

By • Aug 20th, 2009 • Category: Webcut of the Week

Weeks away from delivering Oozevoodoo, their sopho-monster follow-up to 2007s Chivalry, our favourite itinerant, penniless urchins, The Scare tempt fate on “Could Be Bad”. Easily their best recording to date, “Could Be Bad” rails with strung-out guitars and percussive DT’s furthering a more groove-laden direction. With a video clip that is worthy of re-addressing our recent Australian Music Videos Top Ten, the band torture a hapless nine-to-fiver trying to get some peace and quiet. Look out for Oozevoodoo on September 7 through EMI and expect more treats from our favourite miscreants when Webcuts Oozes Voodoo throughout September.

The Scare – Could Be Bad

By • Jul 4th, 2009 • Category: Webcut of the Week

A live taster of The Scare’s first official single to be released from their forthcoming pandemic-inducing second album OOZEVOODOO finds the boys in full swing at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel late last month. Webcuts was invited along for the ride to document the Victorian leg of the tour, which true to form, was eventful as it was entertaining — the boys did not disappoint and neither did the fans. “Could Be Bad” maps out the evolution of The Scare from noisy punks to swinging gentlemen and from the lack of attire in the front row, it seems these boys swing both ways…

The Scare Want Your Money

Read our review of Oozevoodoo Brisbane’s favourite sons, The Scare, are back with the first tastes from their new album, oozevoodoo. Since the release of their debut album Chivalry in 2007, the band have been in a never-ending state of being broke and homeless. Those close to the band who are still scrubbing Scare-stink off [...]
