Summer Camp – Ghost Train

By • Apr 1st, 2010 • Category: Webcut of the Week

Superlatives don’t do Summer Camp justice, nor does the artist-absent retro video clip (taken from the 1969 coming-of-age flick “Last Summer”) to the soft synth shuffle of their debut single “Ghost Train”. A duo comprised of indie-folk balladeer Jeremy Warmsley, and journalist/chanteuse Elizabeth Sankey, Summer Camp formed late last year as fortuitous musical experiment between the two that bore instant fruit. “Ghost Train” is alarmingly infectious, full of longing asides to 80′s synth pop with a chorus that is impossible to deny. Just one of no doubt many more heart-sung, hope-strung tracks that will wind their way out of the Summer Camp camp in months to come. Released on 7″ single through Moshi Moshi on April 12, Summer Camp launch “Ghost Train” and play their first “official” live date at the Lexington in London on April 8 with more shows and festival dates to be come. Don’t forget your towel.
