Foals – Miami
By Caleb Rudd • May 28th, 2010 • Category: Webcut of the WeekOxford’s innovative post-punk five piece Foals returned with a bang recently with second album Total Life Forever flooring many writers, including this one. One of the standouts from the acclaimed disc is “Miami” a glorious combination of indie-funk which initially sounds like all the members of the band are playing out of synch but come time for the chorus everything gels in one soaring swoop. In a twist for the foaled ones the video forsakes the chilling landscapes of “Black Sahara” for glossy slow motion shots of roided and oiled up men and transgenders pumping huge amounts of iron and then having a fight with the local transgender working girls. Yes you read that right. One for the so bizarre it’s good category.
