Canvas Kites – Wayside

It’s rare for Webcuts to give space to the unsigned, unknown talent out there, but we’ve been exceedingly charmed by Sydney’s Canvas Kites and the effortless breezy pop of “Wayside”. This trio, led by former Mercy Arms frontman, Thom Moore, are as fresh as a newborn baby, having formed just earlier this year with “Wayside” the first fruit to fall from the Canvas Kites tree. As their press release states, “they play music for lovers of Postcard Recordings, chanson pop and old Fender guitars” but I think that’s barely scraping the surface. Harmonies, hooks and boyish good looks — that’s what great pop songs are made of.
