Summer Reign – Jarvis Cocker Australian Tour

Webcuts doesn’t condone the practice of worshipping musical idols but if we were going to start erecting shrines and begining fattening calves for sacrifice, Jarvis Cocker would be first on our devotional list. From being the mastermind behind Sheffield’s Britpop gods Pulp, to the recent mixed blessings of his solo work, Cocker earlier this year released the startling good ‘Further Complications’ which we thoroughly endorsed saying “…The latter [I Never Said I Was Deep] displays a soul edge, evidenced in several tracks, which could see Cocker become the indie Barry White.”

Tickets go on sale Friday 14 August and will be snapped up faster than you can say “Pilchard”. Here are the dates, presented by Michael Coppel:

Saturday December 5 – The Hi-Fi, Brisbane
Monday December 7 – The Metro Theatre, Sydney
Tuesday December 8 – Metropolis, Perth
Thursday December 10 – HQ, Adelaide

What no Melbourne date? Could it be possible that the epicentre of Australian gigs and heartland to Britpop back in the day misses out on such a pivotal event? What’s that? “Meredith“ you whisper. Ah.

To further wet your appetite here is Jarv and the band working their way through “I Never Said I Was Deep” in the very non-English and (un-Jarv) like city of Paris.
