Pavement Reunion Official!!

Pavement

Anyone who could care to listen would know I called this about 5 years ago, saying for certain Pavement would reform in 2010. It just seemed like a nice round number and a decent enough period of time for Messrs Malkmus, Kannberg, Ibold, Nastonovich and West to long for the good old days and some cold hard $$$.

Pavement’s UK label Domino have just made it official, announcing the band are reuniting for dates “around the world” in 2010.

“Following years of speculation and extremely polite answers to obligatory reunion questions, Pavement, the most influential band of their generation, have announced details of their first show in over a decade.”

Let me hear a shout of “Wowee Zowee!”

The first show announced is a New York performance on September 21, 2010 at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park. A pre-sale begins at 10:00 AM EDT on Friday, September 18, 2009 (tomorrow). The password for the pre-sale is ZOWEE for any Americans lucky enough to stumble on this fair site.

The rest of the world – hold your britches and don’t start mortgaging your house for plane tickets just yet. That phrase “around the world” smells very Pixies-like to me, so who knows once they get back in the saddle, they might never get off. Just as long as they don’t go and record another album. I still haven’t shaken the memory of Terror Twilight.
