Metric Announce Australian Sideshows
By Caleb Rudd • Aug 17th, 2009 • Category: News
Yes we know Brisbane has often been on the “list to avoid” for international tour schedules for many years and yes we did go on, justifiably so in this editor’s eyes, about the distinct lack of sideshows with the recent Splendour in the Grass but this is getting ridiculous.
First it was Montreal’s indie-electro husband and wife team Handsome Furs who bypassed Brisbane like it was the epicentre of Swine Flu instead playing Melbourne (Aug 27 – Corner Hotel), Sydney (Aug 29 – Oxford Arts Factory) and Perth (Aug 30 – Amplifier). Now it’s Webcuts’ much championed Metric, in the country for the Parklife festivals who has given Brisbane the snub. Please Emily, James, Joules and Josh if there’s anyway we can facilitate a solo show in Brisbane let us know. Couch space? More articles on the site? Whatever you need – just say the word. Meanwhile Metric fans in Brisbane, like Adelaide, will have to resign themselves to catching the fab four at the electronic centric Parklife shows.
