Julian Casablancas – Phrazes For The Young

Here’s where I ask a question and then answer it for you. Remember THE STROKES? Of course you do, skinny ties, sharp tunes, less than impressive 3rd album — but more than that, how could you forget the goldmine of solo material that has sprung from the various members of late, be it Fabrizio Moretti with LITTLE JOY, or Nikolai Fraiture and his NICKEL EYE or the no-pseudonym-necessary, Albert Hammond Jr (yet to write as great a song as Albert Hammond Sr’s “It Never Rains in Southern California”) currently embodying the musician dating model lifestyle with Burberry fox Agyness Deyn? It just makes you want MORE MORE MORE, don’t it?
Well alright then, Julian Casablancas, come on down!
Currently finishing up his debut solo album in New York due for release this autumn on Cult Records/Rough Trade, Phrazes For The Young features eight songs that were written and recorded over the last 12 months in studios in Los Angeles, New York and Nebraska. Track titles include “River of Brake Lights”, “Glass” and “Ludlow St”. As press releases go, this one’s pretty threadbare, but for an additional taster, head over to juliancasablancas.com to see what lies instore.
