Atlas Sound unleash its Logos

What a year so far it has been for the Deerhunter clan. With guitarist Lockett Pundt releasing an album back in March under the name Lotus Plaza, Deerhunter themselves releasing a 5 track stop-gap EP for dates in Europe and Australia, it’s now time for head ‘hunter Bradford Cox as Atlas Sound to finally release Logos, the long awaited follow-up to last years Let The Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel.
Regular followers of Deerhunter and those familiar with Cox’s blog will be aware that he’s not averse to giving away his recordings for free, which is what he did by accident in August last year when an unmixed/unfinished version of Logos was nabbed from Cox’s filesharing account, unaware at the time that all recordings posted in his folder could be accessed. Understandibly agrieved, Cox threatened to bin the project in an outpouring of invective — “fuck this shit. I can just make another album. It’s not finished and now it never will be” before later recanting.
Having had the dust settle long enough for the blogosphere to laugh at someone else’s stupidity for a change, Logos is now due to come out, officially, on October 16/19th through 4AD/Remote Control/Kranky depending on what country you’re in. With guest appearances from Noah from Animal Collective on “Walkabout” and Laetitia Sadier from Stereolab on “Quick Canal”, Logos extends beyond being just a collection of Cox’s home demos and laptop sketches into an enticing cross-section of musical stylings, from acoustic psychedelia to ambient soundscapes, lush Germanic grooves and effervescent 60′s pop that exceeds all expectation.
For the Deerhunter and Animal Collective curious, you can get a taste of this collaboration here.
